We became interested years ago when the channel 4 programme ‘A Place in the Sun’ first appeared, it’s easy to see yourself living the relaxed beach life, rather than just sampling it for a couple of times a year. Although prices have risen over the last few years, property in Cyprus is still within most peoples’ reach.
Having decided that you do want to buy abroad, the question is where and how to go about it. There are always advertisements in the papers telling you about the wonderful new life and property that awaits you in foreign climes.
Who do you trust, where can you get independent advice, who is going to look out for you, are you going to get conned into parting with your hard earned cash? These are the questions that run through your head when you go through this process they are certainly the thoughts we had when we started out.
It always helps if you have visited the country and place where you might like to make your home, or invest in. Never buy anywhere without committing time to visiting the place and looking at it from a ‘would I really want to live here’ perspective.
